Our summer loving clients wanted a laid-back yet luxurious house suitable for their warm weather lifestyle, with materials that could withstand sandy feet and spaces they could stash surfboards and beach bags. To capture the magic of the seaside location we oriented the floorplan outwards to face the waves of their treasured Curl Curl Beach.

Tucked into the stylish coastal village of Freshwater on the Northern Beaches, a reimagined building facade and extensive re-build gave this family home a second shot at life in the home.

The use of dark cabinetry in the kitchen grounds the space and acts as a backdrop to the mesmerising Brescia marble bench, the striking green veining a nod to the sea. The cantilevered island allows for casual entertaining and a deck perfect for barbecuing unfolds from the kitchen, linking the inside and outside seamlessly.
Fuss-free and low maintenance, polished concrete flooring lines the main living areas while warm timber flooring was installed in the bedrooms.
A batten feature on the stairs connects the two materials. Embodying the essence of a modern coastal home, we specified a restrained colour and materials palette with natural woods, marble accents and fresh neutrals in the sleeping quarters. The simple canvas recedes into the background as the eye is directed out to the sparkling ocean beyond.
